Most definitely did - but we did much more than just Route 66. It's a VERY long story, but my family are from the US (Dad was in the USAF and came to England in 1959, to USAF/RAF Bruntingthorpe - stayed here and raised his family here (I'm a Dual National).
We went up to Northern Colorado, to Eagle and Vail, to the small town of Red Cliff which was founded by my Great Great Grandfather in 1879 - he was Town Marshall and MD..!!.. Got the chance to visit his grave in the Boot Hill cemetery!
But, after doing a little over 4,500 miles in 11 days, I crashed in Tennessee - lots of surgery followed (and is still ongoing, last op was 3 weeks ago).
Had the bike shipped home, repaired it, and got it back on the road - cost WAY more than it's worth, but I NEEDED to get the thing back here!!!

Have you had much to do on it what that sort of mileage?

I had the early T595 Daytona and the later more angular shaped Daytona 955i both great bikes, the earlier bike with a high level triumph race can was probably the best sounding bike ive ever had....
I bought the bike Stateside, it already had 118,000 miles on the clock. It was in really good (but obviously used) condition.
I did all the servicing stuff before riding out (plugs, oil, filters, brake pads etc), and then put 4,500 miles on it in 11 days. Didn't miss a beat, nor did it burn a drop of oil!
After I crashed it (low speed, got tangled up with an Armco guard rail on a twisty mountain road in Shady Valley Tennessee), my friend over there put another 3,000 or so miles on before I shipped it to the UK.
It's ironic, I live just 15 miles from where it was built, but it had never seen a U.K. road before!
Anyway, I spent a fortune, new (Wilbers) back shock, new brake discs, replaced all wheel bearings, swingarm bearings and seals, headstock bearings - just loads, but finally got it UK registered and on the road on Oct 1st last year. Despite the ongoing nature of my leg injuries, I managed 800 miles on it in October, then SORNed it - it will likely be September before I get to try riding again!
It's special this bike, very special indeed...

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

Did someone say bikes? I sadly have 4 bikes, by bikes I mean bicycles, most recent purchase was a De Rosa 888 Superking running Ultegra Di2. Looking for an old 'dale M800 (Beast Of The East)

We have a few keen cyclists here. I like bikes, but the way I feel at the moment, I probably wouldn't get fifty yards .
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Not quite your league, but I have a Planet X Pro Carbon with Ultegra, and my Mountain Bike is a Lapierre Zesty!
