Cheers, no wasn't hurt, though the biker that hit me was. Not my fault I hasten to add. Van in front of me turned right into the path of a bike coming the other way. Bike swerved to avoid him, clipped the back end of the van and veered across the road straight at me. I swerved to avoid a head on collision, he crashed into my rear quarter. Boor bugger broke most of his ribs on one side and a wrist and ankle, as all the damage to my car was caused by his body rather than the bike. Was a vintage 1959 Ariel too. Not a young bloke either, around 60.

Worst thing was, the van driver buggered off. Luckily, I have a dash cam, so they caught the twat. He's being done for dangerous driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

Yes the coupe is nice, very pokey and probably the quietest car I've driven, petrol or diesel. The tiptronic box suits it well. Bad point is the high road tax as you say..
“Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio”

Yes would probably do the trick.

No, never gets below 1/4 tank.

I'm like you, I like to know I have enough fuel in the tank to jump in and go without worrying about running out.

I'm doing about 180 miles per week now instead of 450 and my car will do 700 miles on a full tank! I used to fill up every Friday afternoon but now it's just whenever.

Haha - serves the fucker right!

I hate twats like that, who think they can cause havoc and then disappear. They need to be made accountable for their actions. Let's hope that it was a company van, and that he was an employee, thus was also suitably reprimanded by his employers for his careless driving, along with him getting at least a six-month ban and a hefty fine!

Anyway, glad you're ok. Sounds like a pretty hairy incident, but thanks to your quick reactions, both you and the motorcyclist have lived to tell the tale!!

Cheers, yes it was a close thing, he could easily have come through my windscreen.

It was a hire van. Dunno what he does, but I do know he lives in Galashiels, where I'm working at the moment.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
