Just had the engine oil & filter, gearbox oil and air filter changed on the Peugeot Partner 2.0 HDi. Buggers charged me £110!

Could be worse, I guess oils were charged at about £45 and filters maybe £20, so that's only £35 labour. It's a damn good car, so I guess it's worth it!

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Time for a change, current car is a Honda CR-V, would prefer to stay with a petrol SUV or 4x4 as I like the higher driving position, I don't have a high mileage just now so the petrol makes more sense but makes the choice more difficult.
Looking to buy nearly new or ex dem probably.
Up for selection so far, Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, BMW X1 or 3, Audi Q3, Mercedes GLC, or blow the budget for a Jag F pace.

Is this good news or bad?

    http://www.itv.com/news/2017-07-25/n...-uk-from-2040/

Obviously a good way off, but what are the implications in the interim? It's all very well grabbing a 'classic car' or even a current one to keep, but will there still be fuel available?

(mind you, there'll probably be another world war or global pandemic outbreak to totally change the picture by then)

2040? If you're still around then, old chap, I doubt that driving a car will be uppermost on your mind... Dribbling, yes, driving, no!

Let's just see what happens in the future, and in the meantime, continue having fun in our petrol or diesel cars, whilst slinging the government a huge 'FUCK YOU' sign....

In other news, the Brabster's been back from getting the timing chain done (plus new fan belt fitted, while the mechanic was in there), oil and filter change, and K&N air filters cleaned, and it's going like a bomb - better than it ever has!

Also, as the injectors had to come out, to get at the timing chain, I decided to have them tested and professionally cleaned (all the Piezo nozzles, etc) at United Diesel: http://www.uniteddiesel.co.uk/diesel...-pump-repairs/

I suspect that's what has had the biggest impact on performance, as the engine is not only running smoother than ever, but is significantly more responsive, too... I'm certain that cleaning the injectors has released some latent potential, and notably increased the BHP. It's just ridiculously rapid now, with OODLES of torque!

I'm also thinking about going for an 'Extreme Flow' injector power upgrade, see here: http://www.uniteddiesel.co.uk/diesel...ower-upgrades/ just to see how bad-ass the Brabster can get... Watch this space!
