I'm sure they can be made to "work well", Justy; that is if you're seeking that type of "work well" in the first place, but at a stupid price - and arguably not any 'more well' than similar cars at half the price...

I don't hate them, or other cars like them. I'm just simply disinterested in them

You don't need to say that. I think we mutually agreed the breed is shite a while back.

However, I stand by my point.

The ECU needs to learn what octane rating of fuel you are using and adjust the engine parameters accordingly. This can take a couple of tankfuls or more. Probably why there was injector noise.

My car was written off a few weeks ago. Went to see a 407 coupe V6 2.7HDI last week. Pick it up on Friday hopefully.

Interesting, Ali. Never thought of that. Makes sense (although that never happened with me). So John should perhaps persevere more with the Texaco...

Didn't know that Ali. The noise is audible with the BP but much less so. It's only at certain times though, possibly when the DPF is doing a regen.

Hope you weren't hurt. That sounds like a nice car, pokey and comfortable. Big road tax?

Sorry to hear that, mate. You've been through a few different vehicles in the last few years. Let's hope that the latest one proves to be a keeper!

My mileage is down so much now a tank does me 3 weeks easily so it would take a while!

    Not complaining though

    Nope, not at all!

However, do you run your tank almost down to the minimum before refuelling? I never do that, as it encourages any dirt gathered at the bottom of the tank to circulate into the fuel system, which is bad.

Therefore, I never go around with any less than a quarter-full tank of diesel, and mostly I top up to maximum, when the tank reaches half full, which means I can jump into the car knowing that I can go pretty much anywhere, without having to waste time visiting a garage

I never understand these folk who insist on driving around on 'vapours'!
