Blank M-DISC DVDs work by having the data etched (laser carved) into instead of burned onto the data layer; no fading over time. 1000+ year stability...

This seems strangely familiar... kind of like carving a groove in vinyl. What took them so long!?!

Even if M-DISCs were found to only actually last 50-75 years, I'd be plenty good with that. I think I'm going to take a punt on this and upgrade my Tascam's drive and try some blanks. What goes around comes around, eh.
