    Default More Squeezebox help needed!

    Sorry guys, since my Internet went down for a few hours this week, I have had horrendous problems with my SB, I've no idea if it is related to that, but that's when it started.

    Problem 1:
    I have 2 SB's the one in the main system is called SB Main, just so you know, so firstly, it takes numerous attempts to get this one to "appear" and connect.
    Eventually it does, and yet I have done nothing different in the previous 100 attempts to make it connect.
    Problem 2:
    LMS will no longer start, and trying to change library fails, and it says " due to an error, local music has stopped ( or words to that effect)

    My HDD USB is no longer being recognised, so I cannot access any music I have stored in it. When I try and change the library to the SB One, I can see the songs, but they won't play, I can't remember at this stage if the" can't open file" warning comes up, I think it does.

    So, a big cry for help here please!

    Where is lms running? Remote pc/server? Or on the touch?

    is the library on the USB hdd and are you plugging it into the touch?

    What network infrastructure are you using?

    Are you using static or dynamic ip addresses?

    In an act of laziness, and the fact that I can't always get the laptop where LMS is also stored to change over to run things, it's on the Touch..............

    Library is on the HDD plugged into the Touch

    Network infrastructure???? Wtf? Sorry..............

    Dynamic Ip, as Mr Stratmangler knows, I'm not overly up with such tech things, despite realising that having a static IP address is more beneficial.

    Dynamic IP addresses is the one thing that have caused most problems for Squeezebox owners.

    If you have not done so already you should log on to your router and assign IP addresses to all your LAN/WLAN connected equipment. This is normally done using their unique MAC adresses.

    Normally you find your router on http://192.168.0.1/

    Somewhere in the interface (maybe Network settings) you will have an option to make DHCP reservations... and hopefully a list of information of current attached equipment.

    example
    IP Address Name (if any) MAC
    192.168.0.165 SqueezeboxTouch 00:04:20:23:4a:78
    192.168.0.180 SqueezeboxController 00:04:3a:31:36:3a
    192.168.0.191 LMS server 30:04:de:89:c0:bc

    Main: Touch -> Beresford Caiman II -> Carver A-500x -> B&W 704
    Office: Duet (Audiocom)
    -> Luxman L-210 -> Stax SR84 Pro
    -> Beresford Bushmaster -> Superlux HD668B

    Server: A8-5500, 4 GB, SSD + 2*1 TB, Win8 w. SBS 7.9 (SQLite w. High Mem)

    OK.
    I've had a chance to think about the problem, and I think that this is what has gone on.

    You were playing something off server (ie out in the www, such as Spotify or BBC iPlayer), and you had your internet outage.
    Because you were out on www your IP address had changed to something else, and you're stuck on that external IP, so you won't be seen internally.

    Have you tried doing a factory reset and then powering off/on?

    Hi Bernie,

    I found this problem, what you need to do is search on the internet for Sky router username and password.

    If you have the older black router, try using

    Username: admin
    Password: sky

    That should do the trick.

    If I have read this right, you have a USB disk connected directly to the SB Touch which holds your music collection.

    If this is the case then it sounds as though your SB Touch has got itself into a pickle so I would suggest you 'Factory Reset' it, restart the onboard LMS server and Bobs your Uncle it should work, if not then there is possibly a fault with the Touch!
