    Default SME 2013 MK11 arm ?

    Hi people

Any idea what this arm would be worth ?

Its in used condition , not used for years may not have the hanging weight or plug in RCA lead that fixes to the bottom of the arm

The owner seems to think its very valuable ?

Difficult to say really, its worth what someone is prepared to pay on the day, but in perfect condition I guess its worth £750-£850 so with no lead deduct maybe £50 weights as a bit trickier as they can be difficult to get hold of, maybe knock a couple of hundred off, chances are the stub support rubber will have gone and need replacement maybe another deduction of £35 so I guess thats bringing it down to maybe £400 - £450. That all assumes the rest of the arm is there and in good all round condition.

A early prototype / mk 1 sold on Ebay recently for £2.5k he may have seen that and assumed his was also valuable!!!

If the owner uses ebay to buy the phono leads and weight, he should be able to sell it for £600 although some go for higher prices.
Good photos do help if he wants to sell on ebay.

Mine cost 850 and was in reasonable fettle but needed another 200 spending on upgrades to current standards which is something that needs to be taken into consideration. So I think 600-700 in the state it's in and maybe 200-300 to fetch it upto modern standards.

    You're not wrong there André.

Mine cost me £750 - but it came with a Thorens TD-124/II attached!

I'd say it'll fetch £700 all day long. There's plenty of buyers out there who'd give that for it without the lead or the bias weight (which are easily sourced). Fully fettled examples in good condition often fetch between £850 and £1100 these days.
