    Default A Bit Ifi?

Anyone tried one of these? Seems good for the asking price.

Yes - I bought one for use in my upstairs system.

I reviewed one awhile back here http://www.adventuresinhifiaudio.com...ature-wonders/ and sent the review sample back as I already had a computer audio set up downstairs and didn't want to duplicate it but after a rethink regarding the upstairs system (I had a spare laptop and HD drive sitting doing nothing) so I bought one recently, of a local dealer who does AMR and iFi Audio and I am happy with it though its not run in yet. The review one had been pre-used so sounded good out of the box but improved over time, but this one is brand new so does need run in.

New out of the box it will sound a bit lean and etched, but after run in (based on the previous one) it fleshes out tonally and in the bass gains weight, scale and articulation.

Using an iFi USB Power with it improves the sound further still - oh yes using a good quality USB cable will be immediately audible and worth doing. The freebie one is ok as a get you started item but a good one will raise the bar quite a bit. iFi are bringing out a cable called the Gemini to go with it which splits the signal and the power but I have not seen or heard one yet - wee bit about it here http://www.ifi-audio.com/en/iUSB.html

Hi Neil, I think it was you who tipped me off about the iFi USB, I'm using it in conjunction with an SBTouch and an M-DAC, and it's made a noticeable improvement...
