    Default A Rattling Bridge !!!!

Fancied a bit of S&G this morning so stuck Bridge over troubled water on me TD160, Sat back and WTF somethings Rattling on the left channel !!!

OK so a couple of weeks ago I changed me Cart swapped me Ultimo 10a out nd put me Shure V15 mkIII in, only thing thats changed since I last played this album. So thinks I, must me cart alignment Was it NO spent ages checking nd tweaking the rattle was still there. So must be a speaker prob, so I swap me speakers round (Quad 21Ls) and the rattle is STILL on the left !!!! So I check nd clean the interconnects, mains leads ?? I'm using a Quad 99 pre nd 99 power so also swap the Quad link for a spare one nd still it bloody rattles arggggh. Ok so whats left to check ????
Out of want for something to check, I decide to remove the drive units from me speakers nd check the backs (spider) etc even tho both speakers sound ok connected to the right channel. So I get me tools out take the grill off Brace meself for undoing the mounting screws and BUGGER ME their LOOSE by 1 to 1 1/2 turns on both sets. Tightened up all fine now, a productive day, well at least I know me kits had a good seeing too. time for a few me thinks

Threadlock is what you need, just make sure its the sort that allows disassembly.

Just make sure it is the red stuff, not blue or green. You can get it in good model shops.

    Gary,

On second thoughts, Loctite threadlocker.blue 242 is easily strong enough for this application. Red is too much, and might require heating to release it. I use red on the Jesus bolt onmy model helicopters, but the bolts are very small diameter, so you can still release it without damaging the fasteners. with larger bolts it would be too much, so stick with the blue.

use very sparingly - one small drop is enough, and check that it didn't come into contact with plastic Ie. .don't use with nyloc nuts or plastic bolts.
    Cheers,
    Alex
