    My Hermes might be the answer here. Although it isn't the speediest, the company is now the cheapest for shipping small parcels thanks to Royal Mails ill informed changes.

    If it's sent in a standard size mailer I guess around £4.50 to £6.00 recorded depending on 1st or 2nd class. I suppose he can charge extra for packaging but don't see how £9 is justified.

    Looks like my local Postmistress doesn't understand the new sizes. I was overcharged. Max for small parcel is 45x35x8 cm. She thinks it's 35X35. Will be having a word when I go there tomorrow. No record mailer should be charged more than small parcel rate.

    I posted a single LP the other day , It was classed as a small parcel

    1st class £3.00
    2nd class £2.60

    I went for 1st class ,

    It was sent from London to Scotland and arrived the following day
