Interesting discussion there, Ian; although somewhat confusing... What's the final consensus of opinion then: does the AT33PTG prefer a higher mass arm or not?

Have a read of this thread, and search VA and you will see owners with both the III and V and think there is nothing in it performance wise

Bloody hell, that's quite a statement! I'm not necessarily disagreeing, but I suspect that owners of the V (or even IV) here might have a different view...

Perhaps that's why SME 'diss' the III, somewhat - because it was 'too good' and might affect sales of the V!

Hi Marco,
I wouldn't make that statement myself either! I have only heard a V briefly and couldn't compare the two. I decided to buy the AT33PTG first, then started looking for a low mass arm to suit. the AT1100 and SME III were on the list, i just found a SME III first.
All i can tell you it works a lot better in the SME than the Linn Basik + i also own.
Are you thinking of buying one?
