Not amused by that comment at all , yes that is being a bit of over zealousness perhaps but having a daughter who has a severe peanut allergy and having to spend many many hours in super market and many other food stores, restaurants, etc reading the labels on all manor of foods to see what they contain ( you would be surprised what they put peanut oil in ) it is a real nightmare its like playing Russian roulette at times, just the merest trace of Peanut could kill her, she has had a few reactions causing anaphylactic shock just from touch at her work place due to ignorant parents still bringing in peanut butter sandwiches for their child to eat despite a total nut ban which is now quite common in nurseries and schools, oh yes and then there was the regular trips to Guys Hospital to have her tested to see whether she would grow out of it which she hasn't and never will

But Ignorance is bliss eh ? just think of some of us who deal with it on a daily basis, shes 22 now and i still worry

    Rant over

Really? I am a parent to a 13 year old boy who suffers with ADHD and Aspergers Syndrome, he also happens to have a peanut allergy and even he thought this story was utterly ridiculous. I do concur with the rest of what you have written however.

No offence meant........the dig was at the utter stupidity of the rules stating that a bag of nut must state "may contain nuts" not a personal dig at anyone with a nut allergy.

I can't think of anything polite to say about this and I sympathise with the supplier.

What a load of bollocks! I've noticed packs of peanuts with allergy warnings on saying "contains peanuts". Well, you'd be up in arms if it didn't. What the hell would somebody think they were getting if they bought a bag of peanuts? Talk about a nanny state.

Next thing you know you'll be getting instructions on packs of toilet paper for health and safety liablity reasons!

I absolutely hate rules and regulations and bureaucracy, probably to extreme levels.

Absolutely. Why is it happening??? I guess Its either goverment assuming that we're all idiots or maybe fear of being sued by people with peanut allergy eating peanuts because there was no warning that peanuts contain peanuts or maybe we have too many people who have to keep producing new rules and regulations in order to somewhow prove that their job is needed and required.

I moved to UK hoping that I will escape socialist nanny state but found myself in a hippy totalitarianism. Like Aldous Huxleys vision implemented by Disney...

I had a council inspection recently and they noticed power extension cable on the floor. It was marked as "tripping hazard"... what about shoelaces then! or banana skin! ... ahh Im sure that soon we will have warning labels on everythin.
