Al, good luck with it. How tall are you?

My diet starts (as always) on first Monday of the year.

Same height as me. Last year I managed to lose over a stone by April 26th. I'd like to lose 20lbs in same time scale this year. Harder as I get older.

Well done , I have been told loosing it is easy ( Not sure if its true ) keeping it off is the hard part as its easy to slip back into your old eating habits

It's all relative. The less body fat you have the harder it is to lose weight. As you get older your metabolism slows down.

It's largely simple physics of calories in/out but there are a few tricks that help.

    Six small meals a day.

    Decent breakfast.

    Don't eat after about 7pm

    Drink lots of water.

5' 8" (a short-ass) and currently 13 stone (an increase in half a stone over September last)..

Had a lecture from the Diabetic nurse last week, so for my health's sake and to get my blood pressure back down, as well as to stop snoring, which has become an issue again I have to lose half to one stone at least.

No more cheese scones or sticky pear cake at break time The school has a really good cook.............

    Good luck mate,
    on the same journey here.
Doing "alternate day fasting" which seems to be working.

Down just over a stone in 7 weeks, doesnt feel like im missing out on anything.

I was 14 stone, looking to lose another to get down to fighting weight of 12.
    Thats the target!

A diet without proper exercise is useless for losing weight.

You're wrong. A diet without exercise is better than no diet at all. A diet combined with exercise is better. Healthy eating and healthy exercise is best.

I covered this by saying calories in/calories out. Simple physics.

I have been known to eat 6000-7000 calories a day for a week and lose a lot of weight.

It's all quite complicated but this forum is probably not the place to expand any further.
