In some ways (such as their sweeter and more 'sparkly' top end), yes, but otherwise I prefer tubes with more 'balls', which is why I'd take a KT88, and certainly a KT120, ahead of either of them!
But that's not really relevant here...

Yes, there are many excellent EL84 driven amps and I've liked lots of them - including Stereo 20's and Jon's Lafayette. I've heard many systems with the Leaks Andre - and in many different states of repair and refurbishment, but the Radfords push more of my buttons. The STA and MA15's appeal to me much, much more than all the other Radfords I've had the pleasure of experiencing. I've also owned other EL34 amps and listened to many more, but not a single one comes close to a good Radford.
Even better, though this one.....in my system, now sounds better than any others I've heard.
