It's not necessarily about taking a glass of water to bed, although that won't do any harm; it's about ensuring that your body is properly hydrated *before* you go to bed. Roughly how many litres of water (not tea, coffee or pop) do you drink per day?

Reducing your salt intake would also help, on various levels, as too much can be very bad for you. The only thing I add salt to is chips!

Yup, that too. Also, not going to bed before properly brushing your teeth (and tongue), and cleansing your mouth of all the shit you've eaten throughout the day. Mouthwash the bastard to death, and properly get rid of any phlegm, before you hit the sack.

If you go to sleep with a nice clean mouth, and are properly hydrated, it can make all the difference to waking up feeling refreshed and less tired

Maybe a pint? But fluid is fluid, it doesn't need to be water in order to hydrate you.

With all that salt you're eating, combined with a low-water intake [a pint a day is nowhere near enough], it's no wonder in the morning your mouth is as dry as an Arab's sand shoe!

The other thing that helps with getting a good night's sleep, and feeling fresher in the morning, is in ensuring that the air quality in your bedroom is good, so that means good ventilation with adequate heating, removing any dampness, and keeping dust/dirt and clutter down to a minimum, so that whilst you're asleep, you're not breathing in excessive dust or mould spores.

Maintaining the air quality in your room is also good for your chest

I tried Listerine Zero mouthwash, but when I gargled, it foamed like mad. Looked like I had Rabies.

I agree about the snoring though. If I fall asleep in the chair with my head tilted back, I know I've been snoring, because I wake up with a sore throat, the telly's really loud and Mrs. P has a right face on her.
