I have that problem when cleaning the windows (on the inside - outsides are done by my window cleaner). Spend ages cleaning them, and think I've done a good job - then spend the next few days polishing out the smears which I hadn't noticed before!

My brother is the opposite. He's OK with the house, but his cars usually have the filthiest windows I've ever seen, inside and out. And they are often pretty expensive motors (they change quite often).

I keep the windows in my house clean (don't wear glasses), but my car *must* always be immaculate, windows and everything else, inside and out!

I simply cannot abide driving around inside a 'mobile bin'...

I have always found the cleaning stuff opticians sell you to be useless, I clean my glasses under the tap with a tenny weeny drop of washing up liquid and a thorough rinsing. Probably bad for the lens coating I'm sure but I haven't noticed and it works a treat.

Soap and water is what you should use. But don't use a paper towel or a tissue to dry them - you could damage the coating. Only use a lint free cloth.

I've used washing up liquid on my visor's for years, seems to help stop them steaming up as well as cleaning, fairy works best

My optician told me never use microfiber cloths or dusters as they hold the dirt which very quickly becomes grinding paste with the inevitable consequences. The recommendation was to use a clean, soft tissue with a very weak mix of Fairy Liquid and water, works really well.
