No, just worked with my coat on. The manager wandered in eventually and closed the door to stop any more snow coming in. I had too much to do in that job to be wasting time fighting about it.

So how have you been coping for the last couple of months in this heatwave? No way has your bedroom been anywhere near 10C, during that period, unless you've been sleeping in the freezer!

    Marco.
Just sleep with a sheet over me. Had an attic room once, that was during a hot summer, 1997. Was 40 degrees in there some nights even with the (massive) window wide open. Never stopped me from kipping.

I'd have just walked up and closed the window. End of story. You're way too tolerant

So not exactly comfortable then, if you don't like a warm bedroom, and way over your preferred 10C. That was my point

Yeah, that's a point. Plus, I've always been the type who doesn't feel the cold. I wear t-shirts (and nothing else but shoes with jeans) even in the winter. I like to feel 'fresh' (hate stuffy atmospheres) and also as unencumbered as possible by clothing.

When we went up Snowdonia recently in the train, it was pissing with rain and the temp had dropped to 15C. I was the only one there in shorts and a t-shirt (and still perfectly warm), whilst the rest were wrapped up in coats and scarfs!

Didn't mind cold when younger but I need it warm now. Dry too as cold damp weather doubles my pain

But surely by shutting the window Macca would have been demonstrating that he regarded his needs/wishes as more important than theirs?

When my sisters were small they shared a bedroom. One couldn't sleep with the window open, the other couldn't sleep with the window closed. One wanted the landing light left on, the other wanted it switched off. They used to argue all the time over stuff like that. It culminated in a massive fight when the younger sister tore down the elder sister's Beatles pictures, and in retaliation the elder sister tore down the younger sister's pictures of ponies. Me and my brother also shared a bedroom, and we never had a cross word. I don't think it was actually possible to open our bedroom window, so that prevented any disagreements, and there was no room for pictures on the walls, so we couldn't tear those down.

Well, if the menopausal old bint in question had shown some consideration for others in the first place (by not leaving the window open with snow pouring in), freezing the office in the process, then there would've been no need to have reacted as I outlined. Such selfishness/inconsideration should always be challenged.

Now, on the other hand, if the window had been closed, and said menopausal old bint had politely asked if the window could be opened a little, because she was feeling warm, then I'd have gladly obliged!

Can you see my point? It's all about treating others with due courtesy/respect and not just thinking about YOU

I think there were two menopausal women rather than one, so Macca was in the minority. Plus, of course, if it's too cold you can always add clothes, but if you're too hot there's a limit to how many clothes you can remove and remain decent. But office temperatures are a notorious flashpoint. Where I used to work, there was a rudimentary airconditioning system. Unfortunately, when it was switched on it was, for some people, distractingly noisy, to the extent that they preferred the heat to the noise. For those sat further away from the aircon unit, the reverse was true. So the caretaker got a bollocking from one or other group depending on whether he switched the unit on or not. Fortunately, he was a carefree soul, who would just smile and agree with everyone, and ignore what they said. He himself sensibly occupied an office in the post room, and just left the back door open in hot weather.
