We have sort of the same issue in that the aircon does not cover the whole office equally. So some are too hot, some too cold regardless of the setting. If you put the blower on some people are sat in the draught so they complain about that. So the blowers are always off and it is stuffy regardless of whether it is too hot or too cold. And of course although two of the four walls are pretty much all glass, none of the windows are openable.

My previous company I was in a small office with no aircon, but you could open doors and windows. Only 5 of us in there including a couple of women who were 'at that time of life.'

It was always too warm for them. I came in one morning, minus 2 out, snow on the ground. The door and all the windows are wide open and they are sat inside fanning themselves with paperwork: 'Oooh, it's so warm I can't catch me breath!'

There was literally snow blowing in and forming a drift against one of the desks.

correct room temp is 21c for living areas and 18/19 for sleeping areas, which is hard to do as most folk sleep upstairs where heat rises.

I like it about 24 for the living room and about 10 for the bedroom. Don't like sleeping in a warm room.

We haven't got a room thermometer, so I've no idea what the temperature is. As long as we keep some windows open, it's cool enough most summers. My parents' house was like a freezer before they installed central heating (they cunningly waited until we'd all moved out). There was ice on the inside of the windows most winters, and no carpets on the bedroom floors. The only warm room contained the telly, which was only switched off when the parish priest came to call, so homework had to be done with some shite playing in the background, or in the sitting room which was kept 'for best' and was as cold as a witches tit.

Selfish old menopausal bints! I hope you (politely) told them to go fuck themselves, and promptly shut the window? I have no time for folk who care about no-one but themselves.

Me neither, which is why it's been hard getting to sleep at night.

So how have you been coping for the last couple of months in this heatwave? No way has your bedroom been anywhere near 10C, during that period, unless you've been sleeping in the freezer!

Indeed, especially in old houses, with such thick sandstone brick walls (which retain the heat) as mine!

It's personal taste, but I'd only want it 21C in my lounge if it were -2 or 3C outside. 18/19C, at any other time for me is fine

We open the bedroom windows and sleep under just a sheet. And if still too hot, will throw off the sheet.

If none of that works, we use an electric fan (set on the lowest speed).
