It's counterbalanced by the fact that I have zero stress in my life.

    I think.

Demanding is not the same as stressful. Demanding can be fun and entertaining. Actually my last job was more demanding than this one and that wasn't stressful either, in fact I loved that job.

It's all about the right level of pressure. Too little is boring and too much is stressful.

Now there's good advice. Trouble is, I get a rash on my tongue when I shave it.............

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Fairy muff, I get what you mean. The most stressful thing I ever did was leave a very well-paid (and secure) sales job with a regular salary and company car, and start up my own business, initially with two friends as partners, who in the end I had to buy out because they were less than useless, and all the time with a huge mortgage to pay [back then we had quite a big house in a posh area of Renfrewshire, in Scotland]

Thankfully, it worked out well in the end because we made a success of it, and it's put us in the comfortable financial position we're in now, although it was certainly extremely stressful sometimes, working very long hours every day (often 8am to 10pm), and sometimes at weekends too, trying to ensure that enough money was in the kitty every month to pay the bills, when you had to generate the funds, month after month and year after year, all by yourself. That's pressure!

However, the benefit of being self-employed is that you're in control of your own destiny, as it were, with no boss continually making demands of you, and I was also lucky doing something that I actually enjoyed (bespoke picture framing, and also selling the artwork itself to large corporate clients), as I got to explore my 'arty' side and utilize my sales skills
