    Default Boot sale find

Having been watching what Audio Al picks up from boot sales, it prompted the desire to find a nice valve amplifier, a common desire I would think

Went to the boot sale today and found something that has valves in it , but also a small paper printer mechanism in the centre.
This unit is identical, but I didn't get the piece at the right of the picture:

It certainly has two valve amplifying sections, but one is for 62.5KHz
Here it is with the lid down, and the underneath:

It turns out it's a chronocomparator, a device for checking and setting the first quartz referenced wristwatches. Probably made in the '50s.

At least I have some more valves for my stock, 3x EL84 and 5x ECC82.
I might strip it out and use the chassis for my next OTL amp, then again I haven't played with it yet

    Cheers, Alan

1965 was the first quartz widely available wristwatch. Proto and sample units existed before then.
