Did they put a shamrock pattern in the foam head for you? Used to be the thing in my local (Irish pub, great folk!).

Fosters was a nice drop until it was brewed here. Stella, as you suggest is now crap. Holsten was a lovely drink thirty or more years ago, it's shite now. The last time I had a lager that tasted the way it should, was in an Indian restaurant and that was Tuborg Export. I believe an Indian company has the Tuborg import concession, as the only place you see it in the UK these days is in Indian shops and eateries!
No doubt proper Fosters and Tuborg were a good drop, I think the Fosters came in on the back of Paul Hogan and 'Crocodile Dundee'. The proper one is slightly rich and very smooth, the UK version is like fizzy piss.

Anybody remember Lamot lager. That disappeared from general availabilty in the UK donkeys years ago. Don't even know if the brand is still going, but it was my favourite lager, dryish flavour, velvet smooth and nectar like, with a Champagne like aftertaste on the palate. Just gorgeous. Strong too. Three pints and you knew you'd had a beer.

Maybe down south you had Fosters for years but it was brand new in Liverpool in about 1985.

Used to buy it from Bargain Booze half price. They had pallets of it. It was drinkable. That was 26 years ago, though.

Yeah. I know it takes you lot up there a while to catch up. You were still wearing flares in the eighties. (sorry )

Lamot. Not sure it made it up here. There was a strong smooth one which was lethal but can't remember the name
