yeah i prefer the big bad Griz too, but this is nice in its own way and a change as Ive been on Griz for a while and was in Aldi tonight after babysitting

Have you ever tasted Stella in Belgium? Different animal altogether.... Rather like Guinness in Dublin, so I'm told

No, but I buy the pint cans if I can as they are smoother, not sure if they are brewed in Belgium but they are a different brew.

Re Guinness, the London brewery closed about 15 years ago so all Guinness you can buy in the UK is brewed in Dublin, and yes, it is noticeably better. Of course you've got your Foreign Extra that they also brew themselves out in the Caribbean, Nigeria, a few other places I think. You can get it here too. That has a belt to it.

Interesting on the last bit. In terms of Guinness (Snapper's a big fan), all the stuff you can buy in the UK may be brewed in Dublin, but the difference is drinking it in a pub in Dublin, especially where they know how to treat it and serve it

The Stella in Belgium is just awesome, so smooth and creamy, unlike in comparison with the acrid cats piss you get here, under the same name (sorry)! I couldn't believe just how good it was on draught over there this year, when we stopped for lunch at a little village in the country, en-route to Germany. Pure nectar!

There is the issue of 'travel' I agree, no doubt the best pint of anything is always the one you have in the brewery. As for treating it, well it is almost 30 years since I last worked as a cellarman, but there is nothing to it, you just plug into it the same as any keg beer.

Stella used to be like that here Marco. I just don't understand how the British manage to adulterate decent lagers once they get licensed to brew them here. Do they really think we are that undiscerning?

Fosters was a nice drop until it was brewed here. Stella, as you suggest is now crap. Holsten was a lovely drink thirty or more years ago, it's shite now. The last time I had a lager that tasted the way it should, was in an Indian restaurant and that was Tuborg Export. I believe an Indian company has the Tuborg import concession, as the only place you see it in the UK these days is in Indian shops and eateries!
