    Default Bonaparte Retreat

    Bonaparte retreat.jpgShanachie.jpgCladdargh.jpg

Today I am listening to :

Bonaparte retreat The Chieftains Claddagh Records (CatalogueCC20)
I have 3 copies of this and this is the oldest I could get
The first one I purchased was Shanackie (Shan79026)
Being a bit worn I got a newer copy from Island (ILPS9432)
I was quite disappointed by the Island copy as on the very firsttrack I can clearly ear a pre-echo of the music that has not started so far, maybe lazy sound engineer forgot to unwound the master tape causing the musicto leak trough? If so that master is Fluffed
So, for £14 +PP I got this last one described by seller asVG and Mint (which it is) just need to pop down to my local FiFI dealer to getit cleaned
It is the first time it is on the spinner but I have alreadythe impression that the Shanackie is the best of the 3
Looking at them the lead out of the Claddagh is1/3 timeslarger than the Shanackie
My thinking is that in the cutting the Shanackie engineerused much more space and dynamics should be much much betterer thecuts lengths (time)on both version is the same
    Is this right ?
Is it worth talking about it here, maybe start a new tread forlike what is worth to buy or not ?
The Island is just a waste of money IMO
