I'm gone.
I've heard Paul's system in action several times.
Fantastic (and I mean best I've heard) sense of dynamic scale. Controlled air movement by the bucketload. Marco would love it!
And those large speakers disappear nicely.
A very very nice system.
.
Lovely system, Paul!
Sounds like I would, Jerry, as those are all traits I value very highly and (indeed am used to) from my own system. If I'm ever due down your way, Paul, I'll defo let you know and pop by for a listen-ette!I've heard Paul's system in action several times.

Many thanks Jerry. Your system's none-too shabby either! My system is about to get some tweaks. I'm making up new IC's for everything and re-wiring the Garrard earthing and tonearm leads too. Reference Mercury or Venus IC's will be used throughout, and the Chord Odessey is about to be replaced with Talk3! Sounds backwards step, but it's not!
Dismantled the Garrard today. Did some re-wiring and replaced original tonearm leads with Reference Neptunes. Inspected and re-oiled main bearing and drive wheel bearings; made a new plinth front cover to prevent little fingers messing with the adjusters; re-assembled, re-set VTF and bias and added one of my prototype 800g Reference Orbiter stabilisers. Currently listening to JLH - "The Healer" at around live listen levels. It never sounded so good!
Very nice indeed Paul As has been pointed out & I can only imagine those speakers of yours must be rather interesting
After all what you have there is the equivalent of a pair of 18" bass drivers in reflex cabinets, I can't say I'm surprised that they'd sound pretty effortless & dynamic.
Keep up the good work & cheers for posting the pics
Bests, Mark

Many thanks Mark. Yes, they do indeed move air effortlessly and as they're short throw and very sensitive, even modest valve amps have little problem damping them properly. Lightning fast transients which with loud tympani or drum work can have the cat racing for the door in fear of its life...and I don't even have a cat! Exceptional imaging too. Audio Nirvana for me with the synergy achieved, but it's taken many years of box swapping and penny saving to put it together.
