Default FS: Croft Series 7 Power Amplifier

For sale my Croft Series 7 power amplifier. It is two years old and apart from a slight scratch (see photograph) is in excellent condition. This is a great power amp that sounds sublime especially when partnered with a Croft preamp.

I am looking for £520 ono + delivery

    Someone should grab it quick!!!!!

I just cannot believe how close to a "straight wire with gain" this amp actually is. To measure so well, bearing in mind the simplicity, let alone sound so wonderful because of/despite this is just awsome. Makes me wonder about all these boutique amps laden with circuit boards and loads of components - I've seen linestage preamps with hundreds of components inside and even my AVI isn't as simple as it appears, although how much of it is actually in the circuit is unknown to me.

Anyway, good luck with the sale. What are you replacing it all with?

Indeed, I'm a great believer in the K.I.S.S principle. As they say, the best component is often no component...

Thing is, you can't do that so easily with transistors. Hard-wired valve amps lend themselves to having nice simple circuits. Keep the component count down and ensure that what's used is of high quality.

It's a design principle that, when correctly implemented, works superbly well!
