Tear down these walls; Cut the ties that held me
Crying out at the top of my voice; Tell me now if you can hear me

Great speakers those 149's. You can buy the foam grill if yours are missing Stephen.
Hi Dave - first thing is that I have no previous to compare as I bought the JR 149's on a whim and given that they are early mark 1's I decided to recap regardless. Well only 30 mins into listening (Einaudi's Nightbook) bass is tight and mellow (cello and piano are stunning) - mid range is honey smooth and treble is crisp (no hint of squeaking here ) I'm guessing they were designed with classical music in mind
I'm liking these very much - they sound so much bigger than they are - sound similar to my Epos M22i's to be honest - much more involving than the Ruark's but lots of listening to do. I have them on my Kan II stands but with a thick block of solid wood in-between the speaker bases and the top spikes. I'll experiment over the coming days with placing them on cones, sorbothane, cork pads etc but at the moment I just want to get a feel for them.
I'm really chuffed
