Default wanted - AMP & Speakers - low budget

    Hi All

Getting Virgin media installed on saturday, also have PS3. So Optical cable and HDMI inputs required for AMP.

Will be used for a wide range of music (from classical piano, jazz to 808 beats, 909 thuds to thrash metal) plus PS3 gaming and streaming from HD YouTube videos.

What I am looking for is advice on an AMP (ones to test out), i've be recommended the Yamaha AS500 as a great start, but which speakers to choose? To me the AMP is the most important thing.

    Thanks all

    budget max is £300

Take a look at the Onkyo A/V amps as well I have a couple of mates who use them and they do sound pretty good with a lot of power on tap.
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > JM Labs Focal Electra 926.

Can't say fairer than the above. Modern AV amps can deliver really well if the speaker loading is ok..

For used speakers, what about some used B&W 602's - big-n-beefy and hopefully the tweeters (if series 3) will have had the sting blasted out of them by now..... Just a thought out of the thousand other options available to you
