    Default The 103 Is Back!

Just before attending the Whittlebury show I sent my beloved Techy to the photographers, nice pics (one is below) but I did not give the lady very good instructions on transportation, the deck was returned with the arm wavering all over the place and my beloved Denon 103 was as a result smashed to bits.

Having played with various carts since and whilst waiting for my new super dooper Goldring G800 with nickel cantilever I came across a low hours 103 from an old cable customer of mine, and now its here in superb condition to mount back on my 1210.

The 1210 pictured was looking a bit tatty afterwards so I bought a brand new one and will use the old one for R&D now. The 103 in the Oyaide headshell has given me the best sound from my Tech so far. Can't wait to get the G800 on though.

Nice one David - I'm a big fan of the 'old nail' (lost count of the number of 103's I've owned) and will no doubt have another one some time.

The Jelco looks so at home on the Tecchy aswell, one would have thought they were made for eachother.

I've just 'invested' in a re-furbed Zu DL-103. Hopefully I'll get it tomorrow.

It'll be interesting to see how it compares with both my current DV10X5 and my very fond memories of my old re-bodied 103.

    Very nice, Jerry!

If your arm, T/T and phono stage suits it, that should be a stunner... In my experience, the Zu-modded 103s are amongst the finest sounding of the breed, so it'll be interesting what you think

The G800 is on e-bay for £25-£45, buy one and send it to Dominic who will fit a nickel cantilever which will take the performance into another league, proven by a bake off we had at his house where we all sat astonished at the difference one of his cantilevers made, I ordered 1 immediately not even having a G800 at that time! I do have 1 now though.

How much did that cost if you don't mind me asking?
Also, I have a broken Denon DL110 and had just been wondering if it was possible to repair for much less than the cost of a new one.

Same here I have the DL110 and also a broken 1042 so am interested in the cost of a repair, I'm not sure if it will be worth it? The cost of a replacement stylus for the 1042 is about £150!!

Just ask Dominic, he doesn't bite, don't know about his wife though!
