Do you already have the Rowan wood Richard?
If not & you need to buy some, then beware that there is a species of Eucalyptus which is also known as Mountain Ash, you should check by confirming the Latin name. Rowan is Sorbus aucuparia and the euc is Eucalyptus regnans and it does sometimes turn up in craft wood suppliers stock.

You may also have trouble finding a piece of Rowan of those dimensions. It's not commonly sawn as timber and a piece 4" wide would come from a tree that would be a pretty large diameter for a Rowan.

I am beginning to think you are right about the dimensions. Might have to settle for Ash.
But the Rowan would be special....for a pair of special amps. Cost is not important.
I could go for MDF painted black to match the transformers but that's really scraping the bottom of the barrel.
