    Default Greg's system

Beechwood commented to me a while ago that I had no system pics on AOL. Hopefully this will put this right.

My system is Slatedeck mounted Garrard 401 on Target wall stand with Michell TecnoArm II, Ortofon MC30 into heavily tweaked World Audio Design Phono II with Lundahl step up Tx's into Cathode Follower conversion (got rid of the hum) of WAD Pre II into a clone of the original WAD 300B Push pull. This power amp is a genuine clone albeit it looks pretty original. I got together with others to make a chassis purchase from the original manufacturer with some slight alterations. The Tx set was also ordered from the original makers and we made our own high quality PCB's and selected our prefered choice of boutique components for the build. This feeds through home made TNT 'Twisted Twin' Cat5 speaker cable to WAD KLS3 MkI speakers with well modded crossovers. All interconnects are made from IPL Acoustic IC2 (no longer available but World Designs does similar quality stuff) hardwired direct into the pre-amp. I have a Marantz CD6000KIS fed through a Beresford DAC when the need occassionally takes me.

You can see I major on DIY. This is because I gained the taste for high end sound without the finances to do it over the counter. I got the results I needed by making it all myself. I'm very satisfied with the results although I know there is room for improvement.

    Here are the pic's.

    The system

    The Turntable

    CF Converted WAD PreII

    WAD 300B PP Clone

    WAD KLS3 MkI

    Modified KLS3 treble/mid filter

    Modified KLS3 bass filter

    Any comments gratefully received.

Thanks for the pics Greg! I love the neatness of your cable and component routing and placement, inside your equipment. There's a satisfaction in getting both inside and outside perfect. The Shakers knew this! Your Garrard looks great in it's slatedeck. Have you achieved complete absence of transport and electrical noise on vinyl playback? Aside from faithful frequency response and fast dynamics that's the TT holy grail for me.
