    Default Great recordings

I fancy some new music and I just love great recordings ... so as a new member I thought I'd ask what you think are the very greatest recordings you have in your collection ...

Of course that would be rude if I didn't put a few up as a starter for ten ...

So here are a few of my faves ... (some on vinyl and some on CD)

The Trinity Sessions - The Cowboy Junkies
Circle of One - Oleta Adams
    Chesky Records Jazz Sampler
    Follow Me - Jon Strong
    Mind Bomb - The The
    Unplugged - Eric Clapton
    Porcelain - Julia fordham
    Love Prayer - Bliss

That gives a flavour of some of the stuff I like ....

What is in your pile of absolute favourites ?

Do you mean the quality of the recording, or the music?
Saying that Marantz is well known for its amplifiers is like saying God is well known for creating the world

For sound quality, some of my Faves-

Nickel Creek-Nickel Creek.Probably the best cd recording I've ever heard.Love to hear it on vinyl if it exists.

Anything by Eric Bibb on the Opus 3 label.Great recordings. They use an all valve system, right through from the mics to the mixing desk, and they record in one take-"live" as it were, with no studio tricks, just lay it down exactly as it's played.

The Be Good Tanyas-Their first two albums.Great sound also.

I'm glad someone else has discovered this recording - mind numbingly solid and crisp.

    Default Rosin Murhy

    Hi Filterlab

I think this is probably one of the finest power, pop, electronica cds in years if not ever IMHO. I like the later Moloko albums(not the early ones we bit to avant-garde for my ears). Poor Norm(see Brass Bands Thread) had to hear that earlier today so I could get a feel for how his system sounded. It played it quite well. I think Black Cherry by Goldfrapp is the second best after Overpowered IMHO
