Had a very pleasant afternoon with Del, in Wrexham library listening to a superb (free - as in it cost nothing) performance of a violin and piano duo, playing Mozart’s Violin Sonata No32, K.454, and Franck’s Sonata in A Major, with Elizabeth Lamberton (on violin) and Ron Abramski (on piano), who are both very talented young musicians.

Then afterwards, a relaxing and superb lunch at a local country pub: http://www.brunningandprice.co.uk/crossfoxes/

The music venue was small and intimate, with great acoustics, which allowed you to easily become immersed in the music and appreciate the real (and vibrant) sound of the instruments played - a great benchmark for judging just how musically accurate/lifelike sounding one’s system is, when reproducing recordings of similar instruments

The performance was arranged by the North East Wales Sinfonia: http://www.newsinfonia.org.uk/

We’re going to the next event on 9th May, which features a cello vs. brass clarinet duo, with performances from Iris ter Schiphorst (‘Hi Bill’), Zoltan Kodaly and JS Bach. Can’t wait!

    Marco.

Robin Trower supported by Joanne Shaw Taylor at Salford Lowry Theatre last night.

JST was a fine warm up act, but Robin Trower was just awesome. One of my very favourite guitarists, I love his style. So economic, not a wasted note, just perfect.

    Not bad for 70!

I like everything really. From the britpop bands like UB40 right back to classic rock, like Wings. They're only the band the Beatles could have been.

Visited Austin for SXSW this year, watched about 40 bands and artists.
Stand out was this guy Leon Bridges, now backed by two of the guys from White Denim.

    Pretty special in my opinion.

Cor, sxsw has been on my to do list for the last few years. The singer from my band was out there doing some solo stuff and she loved it.

Good man, we'll be in the cv fields from tues afternoon. Aim to get a cv ticket in east rather than west as it's closer to gate c and the tnc side. I'll be buying ours when I do the balance payment this week. Funny how the fields fill up, we were pretty close to gate c last year and the infamous hill, Ali didn't arrive til the Thursday and was in the opposite field 2 mins from us.

Not music, but going out tonight to see Kevin Bridges perform at Wrexham uni. Should be a giggle - especially if I can shout: 'Awrite, ma man?', and make him feel at home amongst all the Taffies
