Darren, yes, I'm using one myself currently while the Pre 2 is having some TLC. It's very good, particularly in view of the low cost. The other good thing is it acts as a buffer also, so avoids the usual impedance matching issues of a passive pre.
I use a L/Speed into a B1 - Best detail and musicality I have ever heard. There is a good build thread on Audio Circle.
