    Followed by Mahler's 4th

And if there's time, some Roussel although that may have to wait until tomorrow

-- the same recordings, on CD and LP. The LP sounds better.
    All are wonderful performances!

    And then #23 and #22 from ...

Kempff is a great Mozart pianist, but so is Barenboim.

Tuneful and occasionally very powerful and emotive works.

.. and just look at the concert hall where the symphonic disc recording was made! ...

Anyway, having seen your post earlier in the week, I spotted a CD copy of this today in a local charity shop at 50p - would have been rude not to have bought it!! It's on the player now and sounding great.

    Thanks.

Ludwig van Beethoven: Symphony No. 5 in c minor Op. 67
Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Wilhelm Furtwangler

Classic mono recording from the 1950's

Furtwangler and Beethoven what's not to like?

    Not spinning but streaming!

More Furtwangler with the Vienna Philharmonic - this time the Schubert Symphony No. 8 the "Unfinished" so only two movements. Sounding pretty good via FLAC files, not bad for an old mono recording from January 1950...

Files are loaded on a Synology NAS drive, and streaming over wifi to my Cambridge Audio Stream Magic 6, if anyone is interested.
