This is nice to just relax to.
-- despite the title it is mostly instrumental not vocal.

I couldn't make much sense of Malcolm Arnold's 1st symphony when I first started listening to it a few years ago.
I must have a couple of dozen listens under my belt now and it's become one of my favourite symphonies.
A work of large contrasts - blatty dynamic brass and beautiful woodwind and strings.

I'm Jo.
A used CD purchase on eBay (and not in the best condition when it arrived, but only a couple of quid so can't really complain), but really enjoying this...

The clarinet trio is my favourite of Brahms' chamber works.
And this is my favourite recording of it. Beautifully relaxed and flowing.

I'm Lawrence.
I can't listen to it now as the record is up north, but the Concertino for Harpsichord and Strings by Walter Leigh is a delightful piece. Sadly he was killed at Tobruk in 1942 so never achieved great fame. Highly recommended.

A Lyrita recording with Trevor Pinnock is on Spotify.
You're right, Lawrence, it is a very good piece! Thanks for the tip.
