Florence Ciccolani plays piano music by Carter, Mantovani, Boulez, Matalon, Boucourechliev. Great playing and a decent rcording, released by Sisyphe, a French label. [SISYPHE017]. I have another recording of Mantovani's Suonare played by Claire Désert, but Ciccolani kicks better. One of the discs I'm using to play in a Lehmann Linear HPA with Sennheiser HD 700s - proving to be a great combo!

    I like this a lot.
Violin and fortepiano (old style piano).
The sounds of the two instruments blend so well.
Music by CPE Bach - one of Johan Sebastian's many children.

I'm not usually enamoured of the viola as a solo instrument, but for some reason this viola sonata by Francis Pott (who he?) just hits the spot and I find it very listenable indeed.
The remainder of the disc may or may not be recommendable for its song cycle. Not for me.

    More viola!

This time a transcription of Elgar's cello concerto (Heresy! I hear Paul cry).
It really works well for me - astonishingly well played by both viola soloist and orchestra as well.
