    William Zinn?
-- OK, Grant's probably heard of him, but who else knew?

    A very enjoyable album.

What did you think of it? TBH kind of left me wondering If Gorecki ran out of steam many years before.

Yes, I do know what you mean.
But once past the tediously thumping 1st movement it gets a fair bit more interesting. Not sure I'd wheel it out more than once every year or two.

The best thing about the recording, though, is the conductor Andrey Boreyko - he has done some superb Shostakovich symphony recordings! No. 4 is a bit of a revelation and no. 6 is possibly the best I have heard. A bit wasted on Gorecki, really.

Said to be Bruckner-like, and yes I can hear that.

The 1st symphony here is sheer melodic bliss, love it to bits!

Very fine performances and recordings of Beethoven and Tchaikovsky piano trios

Very good this - but the 1st doesn't quite beat the classic Previn to me...
