    Default Wonder Winterland

Just a heads up for Hendrix lovers. Amazon USA are taking pre-orders for the new 8 x 180g lp box set (plus a USA only cd disc) 'Winterland' The price is £33.80 as oppose to Amazon Uk's £126...!

With import tax (which you can pre pay at the checkout now) and shipping it comes to £49.50. A saving of nearly £77...

At that price it has to be worth a punt?

    I have already ordered mine...

Check out the link below for details and track listings.

Very tempting but I am always sceptical about these previously unreleased live shows especially with Hendrix where there is a tendancy to put out any old junk knowing that the Hendrix cognescenti will have to have them...

Well I have been monitoring this release on another forum (where it has generated over 650 posts) and most people seem genuinely excited about the release of the fabled Winterland concerts?

I just thought as its limited I'd give people the heads up.

Sure and it is appreciated - I'm just an old cynic I guess...

These Winterland shows are some of my absolute favourite Hendrix recordings. He was at the top of his game at these live shows.

Well I received the box set last week and by jiggery its fab. Each of the 8 180g records is nicely sleeved with a poly inner and sturdy cardboard outer depicting an arty shot of Mr Hendrix.

I have been working a lot lately so have only had time to listen to the first disc but its really good. The 'Tax free' jam is just wonderful as I hadn't heard it before!

I can't wait to crack open a cheeky red and listen to the rest.

I have the CD set and it is superbly done and must be one of THE best Hendrix box sets out there.
