Can we just stick to the 20th century decade by decade. All genres and definitely no MP3's or Spotify

Andre for classic albums you could suggest ELP Yes etc The obscure stuff would be hard for most of us to get hold off . Let me know if you wish your name not to be listed

Agreed, but it can be done. There are great recordings of every piece and we could use the Penguin highest rated one, or more pragmatically select from one that is on Spotify to attain the greatest audience.

Imagine if the album was Elgar's 'Cello Concerto and some listened to the du Pré version, some to the Tortelier version and some to Casals etc
That was why I suggested the Naxos label for Faure, because IIRC that is the only version in their catalogue.

The Per Norgard is available on DACAPO (part of Chandos) as a CD/SACD hybrid.

Another idea from The Grand Wazzo
Instead of using the v oting mechanism different members can take turns to nominate an album, one week it can be classic the next an album to recommend but also offer up for critical feedback.
If we do go this way then it be easy to cover for specialist taste quite easy
I suggest as it Grifo104 (Simon) idea he goes first and then creat a list from those who has expressed an interest in this
So the list could look something like this
    Grifo104
    John
    Welder
    Keiths
    Alan Sircom
    WAD62
    Vinyleyes
    MartinT
    Andre
    Audioman
    Ursus262
    Sounds OK to me

Hmm, I must have about 15 versions of the Faure but I don't have the Naxos. I think we should stick to great recordings that most people stand a chance of having.
