“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

    Yes, no complaints from me.

Mostly 'established' kit but the speakers were a random eBay punt that turned out very well.
Embarrassingly, I bought the speakers as they matched the decor of the room as well as looking an interesting design - white window frames, the brushed aluminium of the tweeter mount plate ties in with the coffee table and also the speaker stands.
It all goes rather well together (unlike the random shambles of my main system!).

There's nothing wrong with having a little style to go with the sound.

Lovely view out the back there. You not considered making that your main system room? Lots of glass though I suppose.

The glass would probably go well with the MBL speakers - I have ended up with a deliberately reflective wall behind them in my main system - lots of glass fronted pictures and a 42 inch plasma screen - they seem to like it that way.

The main issue is that there is approx 75 miles between the 2 systems - hence the need for the 2nd system!
But if we ever did move there permanently the MBLs would be OK. Seems unlikely we would do that, though.
