I might smash a couple to see if the ones described as gold grids do indeed have gold grids and the others don't.

Ordered £200 of foo for the crossovers yesterday. Including PathAudio resistors which are more expensive than base model Dueland resistors. Just couldn't get myself to buy pencil lead resistors LOL.

If it proves positive I'll order even more foo.

Or the arguably superior Elkie Brooks version of course.

Sounded a bit different to the 'gold grid' but OK.
Listening today - I've settled in with the sound ... and I was losing the will to live. It's kind of drab and lacklustre.
Swapped back to the gold grid and the system is boogying again!
Interesting. I look forward to reading how the 1960s OTK fairs. Most of the internet hyperbole on tubes is written by dirty old men in wee-stained macs that have no semblence of HF hearing left - I hope at least I have some HF hearing to differentiate me!

Maybe if your Gold ring beats my silver rocket & Justin's red nipple; I could have a play with one of yours?

That could be construed in so many ways

I dunno. Speaks for itself really. Still, what people do in private is no skin off my nose!
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Ah, so that'll be me, then.

I was wondering what the smell was.

You can play with mine anytime, jp.
I'll send you my spare gold-ilocks when I return your fancypants OTK.

Indeed. Diarrhea's version was a bit shite and Elkie's version is much more hi-fi system taxing having played both in a row. Elkie's EQ is much brighter.

And there's a problem there. There just isn't any standard EQ on recordings. So getting a sound that actually sounds balanced on very revealing systems is doubly difficult. A real case for graphic equalisers/digital EQ etc etc.

Sweet though I am sure Elkie is, she'll only get a brief look in. Pure 70s disco is more important. But not much more. It has its times, though
