What's cool is the lesser known Teles can be had for little money and are excellent. I got some E280F gold pins years ago and the price seems to still be very reasonable. As for ECC82/ECC83 and S variants forget them and go NOS Tesla

    Just arrived and settling in.

    A Schiit Saga passive/valve pre-amp.
It came with an OTK 6SN7 valve, which I know I like. I have a couple of others around to try at some point; JAN-Philips and Reflektor.
The valve-hybrid and passive outputs are usefully a little different sounding at first blush. The valve output being more immersive, the pure passive more exact and precise.

The User Manual is amusingly down to earth. file:///C:/Users/Pc%20world/Downloads/saga_manual_1_1.pdf
    For example ...
    2 Remote Light.
This extremely bright light was designed to irritate everyone who carps and moans about the brightness of our LEDs.
    Just kidding.
It lights when you use the remote.

    Looking good!

By the way, OTK is just “quality assurance” in Russian :-)

OMGosh yes, I just swapped in the Reflektor 6SN7 -- that "OTK" was just cheap stock crap, I suspect.
This is MUCH better! A lot closer to the precision of the passive stage but a lovely (false? ) sense of acoustic space. Yum.

    Oh no.
The Wife looked at the Saga --- and laughed.
It's the valve poking out the top of the otherwise normal box.
I must admit I find that sort of thing stupid looking, too.

And I haven't even told her the name of the company that makes it yet.

Get some more shit - the Modi Multibit DAC jobbie Tom lent me is pretty nice.

Do so and no one can say you aren't full of Schitt. An admirable accolade.

Only the envious ones-or the insecure?
    Be true to thyself-just cool.
