    Bouncy bouncy sound everywhere!

    - No, it doesn't really matter.
I stopped obsessing about such audiophile-nervosa trivia years ago and just enjoy the music these days.

... here's an idea of part of the full view from the listening chair.
    Would you close the curtains?
    Well, maybe you would.
    I'm happy with them open.

Back to the main system, aka the Big Rig.

    New widget ...

An impedance buffer which provides the source component (a pre-amp currently) with a very easy load to drive.

Interesting and positive HFW review of the beast ... https://issuu.com/gerry666/docs/hifiworld_june_2007/27 (You need to be able to expand the image to read it at all).

Plugged in between pre & power amps and, hey presto, the next level up is achieved.
It's simply that important bit more transparent and faster, more immediacy, more presence. A tauter and more vibrant bass end, as well.
It's more like being in the presence of the musicians.
    It's a keeper.

As for Lawrence001's report of only 2 out of 3 holes into the power plug being used (he purchased it on eBay before me and returned it) - well, I treat this with rather less suspicion and am tempted to just regard it as a typical small British audio company using a 3 hole rubber grommet for a 2 wire cable simply because that was what was available! It only has a 2 pin power input into the unit, after all.

The bloody Arcaydis buffer thing has started making weird noises.
A chugging sort of hiss and then a loud thump from the L channel.
    Damn!
I've requested a return from the eBay seller.
Hmm, I'll be on the lookout now for an impedance buffer that works properly!

    Yes, please!

I had a standard original MF X10D back when they first came out, and it was mildly 'orrible!

yes, I bought the kit from the Rock Grotto guy up in the highlands. Fitted it myself. A load of caps and fast diodes. Did make a nice upgrade. I was using it between cd and amp but when the ne cad goes in I will bypass that and run digital from cd. Will see if I can get a box for it. If I can find a box big enough I could send your dac back with it maybe.
I did have it up for sale a short while ago but was no interest oddly lol.

will have a look tomorrow if fit enough.
