Default STAX headphones - is this a sensible upgrade?

I have a newish STAX Lambda Nova Basic headphone + XRM-Xh setup - I've just noticed a 15 year old STAX SR-Gamma Pro headphone (no amp/adaptor) going on eBay.

Would this be a worthwhile change for me?

If you really want a change, then you should look at the Sony MDR-F1. Now only available in Japan, just like many other good stuff the Japanese now keep to themselves.
I bought one last week and all I can say is that it is far more musical than my AKG K701 or Sennheiser HD650.

No - I'm happy staying with STAX. Just thought the Gamma SR might be a stepup from the Lambda Basic. I'll find out in a couple of days!

In fact, I already have some Sony MDR-1700CD ... excellent in their own right & very highly rated in their day.

Well, I've got the new Gamma Pro headset now - and it's very good. Slightly higher rez than my "old" (fairly new, actually!) Lambda Nova Basics, but not much in it. I probably need a better Stax amp/driver to make the best of them.

Trouble is, with my quite big head (needed to encompass my mighty brain ) my Lambdas are a bit more cumfy ... .

So if anyone fancies the Gamma Pro headset, they can have it for £80 delivered - which is what I paid.
