    Default 3 & 16 ohm valve amplifier

    Hello there.

I'm looking at a old valve amplifier that has 3 and 16 ohm taps. Can anyone tell me if and which setting could be used to go in to 6ohm speakers? - Are we talking safe here or not?

    Cheers

Nothing will go bang if the wrong taps are used. Just use the ones that go loudest/sound best

Use the 3 Ohm tap. The 16 Ohm one will not be able to provide sufficient current for 6 Ohm speakers, although it is likely you will not run into too many problems at low volumes.
