It was the closest one to where we were staying (Inverness) though we did go to Sky one day and there are a few there. But the best are on Orkney,Shetland or the very North of mainland Scotland.You look very distinguished there, Neil - like a proper Scottish laird!

Yup, Orkney is awesome for Brochs... In fact, it's awesome, full-stop, if you love beautiful scenery, fresh air and tranquillity, (count me in!) Life is also beautifully slow-paced and 'real', rather like it is in rural North Wales.
Orkney also has wonderful serenity and 'honesty' - a veritable land where time forgot, almost completely devoid of the ravages of commercialism, and totally divorced from the rat race of modern life. I love it.
Oh, and the seafood restaurants (and whisky) are to die for!
