A pair of Q Acoustics Concept 20 speakers in gloss black.
Excellent condition.
Boxed and with the manual and grilles. Unfortunately one of the foam bungs has been lost, so I will pop a piece of...

I'm still on Release 3.1.
Tried 4.x and the latest version of Volumio. I prefer the sound of the old version.
Dilemna time
I've done some tests on A123 cells and they seem close to ideal as a power source. I cannot test the noise performance but output impedance and load transient response is...
Back on topic... at least the snubbers are irrelevant for the LiFePO4 supplies.
It looks like they are much lower ESR than my cycling batteries and as long as they are <10mOhms or so, should be...
Yes.
Once again, expectation bias got the better of me for a while. That lovely critically damped waveform provides lots of peace of mind!
I wonder if the C-RC snubber has some downsides when the...
Actually I shouldn't have written "fancy" it's actually quite prosaic.
It's one of these:...

Spot on.
Ported speakers are generally a 4th order system at roll off. This means poor transient response - exactly as you describe. Of course if you can tune this group delay to a low enough...
Don't laugh... I'm running a Pi2B and IQAudio DAC+.
I bought it after reading Marco's "Analogue Dinosaur" thread and was shocked how good it was. Prior to that nothing had beaten my old TDA1541...
Thanks Simon. Yes, it must be one hell off a task and I don't want to be one of the ones that drops out.
I really cannot make my mind up on this. It could be great and certainly looks good on...
I've been watching those threads over on DIYAUDIO for a whie and this looks a very interesting project.
What's not at all clear though is what the commercial details are: prices, GB closing dates,...
Thanks for the reply.
I have done quie a bit of experimenting with the PS and regs. The IQ DAC seems quite sensitive to how it's powered... once again, not logical, since the Pi supplies the IQ DAC...
I am considering buying/trying a Boss V1.2. On paper it looks like it should sound better than my IQAudio DAC+, due to the master clock operation.
But I'm cautious because The Kali + Piano 2.1...
Digital - both technically and audibly.
Of course, in subjective terms, it all depends on the recording and to some extent on listening level. Low levels can suit LPs "warmth" and compression.
Very similar findings to my home demo, although my listening impressions were split into two... in the morning the Kiis sounded bland and with lumpy bass. After lunch (hic, only one *unt pintstable!)...
Hi Marco,
It's not the Pi/DAC that I'm trying to fix, it's the speakers!!
This is rather OT for this particular thread but....
As you probably know I have been running a DIY setup with CAOW1...
I am using hardware volume control in ithe IQAudio DAC.
In the past I found that upsampling (including the advanced audio kernel) and software volume control doesn't give the best sound. I'm hoping...
I'm guessing that they both use the same Alsaequal graphic equaliser - see the pic here:

I will give Volumio a go in the next few days.
Thanks...
Thanks John, I just noticed that Moode 4.0 has a 10 channel eq'er. Any idea on the spec of the Volumio and where to find instructions to add the plugin?
Currently using RPi2 + IQ Audio DAC+ and Moode (release 3.1 2016-12-05).
I would like to be able to adjust the frequency balance, ideally like a graphic equaliser.
Some googling shows that there is...
Although I partially agree, port tuning is not an exact science. The drive unit parameters vary too much with sample to sample variation and with temperature and voice coil position etc.
Blocking...
How does it alter the entire perfomance?
