Hi, the Pi-DAC+ exposes the power pins (pins 2/4 +5v and pin6 0v). These can be used to "back power" the Pi etc. but you are bypassing the pi's protection circuits. Supply move than 5v and fry the...

It's possible to have 4 PCM5122 on the I2C bus, each could be made to be a unique sound card and then each could be EQ'd too. It would be a hack and need some specific Linux Kernel development but...

I think the difference here is that there is more control of the features and functionality that can be implemented without the need for big CE companies.

IIRC the PCM5122 is used in some of the Olive streamers...
Certainly the Pi is not yet an out the box solution for those with no linux experiance. The software is evolving and will continue to do so.
