It's probably horses for courses, in my main system in the big room they were lost and the bass took over. But in my bedroom system they sound fine, the bass is just right, very detailed not one note...
Wouldn't we all like to own those?
You buy some and I will come and check them out. :lol:
I picked up a pair of DM-1400's in pristine condition, they had the original boxes, packaging and paperwork. The finish on these things is first rate.
I have never had B&W's but since there highly...
Ronald,
Since building the Phonoclone 3 I have redesigned it after trying the Peter Daniels offering but not with his power supply. I use different op amps, different RIAA stage and different dc...
Hakko 936 is the best iron I have used, I have done thousands of joints with it and it's as good as the day I bought it. You won't be sorry.
The new replacement is supposed to be even better.
I am pretty sure that you can use this on batteries for a significant increase in performance over the plug in 12vdc transformer. I know others have done this with the TC-750 and it made a huge...
Holy cr@p those are just beautiful.
They are a work of art no mistake.
I thought they would be difficult but I found they are really easy to do.
I have been thinking about a step by step post for anyone wanting to try.
I built a B1 a while ago, it was very nice, I ran it off a nice little PSU I designed.
Being a cheap b@st@rd I didn't use boutique components though.
Never got to put it in a case.

The Burr Brown's will all have the house sound, laid back and a bit loose in the bass area. The OPA27GP is a good all round contender. The LME49710N is low noise and is more on the neutral side. The...
Sony made some good tables, I have a PSX-500 Biotracer fitted with a Benz Micro Ace in my bedroom system and it sounds great.

I buy a lot of used records and clean them thoroughly before use, it's pretty rare not to have some surface noise in the quietest sections as well as a little static at times.
That's just part of...
After finding this phono stage gets even better with time I built another one when I acquired a lightly used Benz Ace SM.
It's without a doubt the best phono stage I have heard by a mile, the...
I have a Benz Micro Ace, well two actually, a medium and high output, I love the sound, it's detailed, smooth and has low surface noise. Did I say smooth, it's not in your face but to me as...
Panasonic FC's are one of my favorite caps, cheap, good quality and sound pretty good. I have upgraded over a dozen of these and it takes them to a new level. AD823 / LM4562 op amps are a good...
It takes around 20 seconds for the relay to click in on these.
The biggest problem is that people connect DC power packs to them and it burns out C6 from memory.
Martin I see you have a Benz Micro Ace SL, I love Benz carts, here is the values of R1 and R2 to suit for the correct gain:
R1 = 12 ohms
R2 = 300 ohms
I thought that might be the case, will have to go with my other idea higher compliance cart. May try one of these in my SL-1700 though, thanks for the info it's appreciated.
No problem Martin, it would be good to have another opinion of the sound.
The only difference is I added a 0.1uf poly cap to each of the 100uf filtering caps, not sure if it did anything big but...
I need some advice, I am thinking of getting a Denon DL-103R and have a Sony PSX-Biotracer turntable sitting around gathering dust. Anyone know if it would be a good match, there isn't much info out...
I actually just found his thread on DiyAudio and it is a very similar design, I see he added a cap across R1 to avoid oscillation of higher bandwidth op amps which wasn't a problem with the ones I...
Nothing like it as far as I know.
$80.00usd whatever that is in sterling.
The circuit is named the phonoclone 3, it supposed to be a similar design as the 47labs phono cube which retails at over $2500.00usd without PSU. All I can...
I got 4 of those 6volt lantern batteries and have them in series with a center tap for the ground. But it will run on just two 9volts and get around 40 hours on those.
