It's hard to find anything lasting that beats a good hifi
Since my new HiFi setup I really can hear the difference between PCM (even high res) and DSD
DSD is so outstanding... I knew it was good, but on this system DSD really stands out as much smoother...
Appreciated Jazid... I don't usually wear shoes, but you've given me ideas...
How do I provide an Earth point ?
Hi Group,
Sometimes I touch my sub-woofers, usually to change a setting, and get a nasty static electricity shock...
Sometimes, it's fine... more often than not I get no shock, in fact....
Hi Martin, maybe (for my taste, at least)
Today is day two ; and the sound was not a dream.. it lives on! Previously I had loads of power on paper
but still, I was listening with the gain turned...
I started with gain and cutoff on minimum on my right subwoofer today...
Gently turning it up, with the music on, listening carefully with my ear close... nope nothing yet
Put some other bassy...
Hello Group,
Some of you may remember I was going all cuckoo about wiring and running a Vertical bi integrated-amplifier 2 channel system
I completed it today even if my Hifi rack has not yet...
On paper I gain nothing... in practice... we shall see.
I have never tried Vertical bi-amping. I need to at least try.. as I do own 2 identical integrated amps.
I agree with you, completely, Martin. I really don't know how the result will pan out in practice.
Previously I had B&W 704 floor-standers (the ones that came out 10 years ago, not the new ones)-...
No, I don't know that.
In truth, I am hoping for a little more... of course
I know what I hear (I'm a professional musician) so I will judge it when I hear it, not before.
Thx for following
That's right.. the DAC outputs simultaneously from fixed and variable outputs...
The variable at max is the same as the fixed. Whether or not this will present timing or phase issues remains to be...
Could anyone please look at my Vertical Biamp diagram

and let me know if the wiring is correct?
Possibly also check...
Thank you very much Russell for your input... these are my thoughts too.
120 wpc into 8 ohms, but the speakers are DALI opticon 6 which are 4 ohm
Completely, correct ; this is the first method that came to mind (and probably end up doing just that)... still which amp to use as treble and which as bass?
I also have a subwoofer to add to the...
I plan on 2 Sources : My DAC can accept Coax in from SaCD player and USB from laptop FLAC files (also I can still use Pre-Out of Amp1 to Aux in of Amp2... for another method)
(Also I have another CD...
Thanks, these are good answers that raise my awareness
I was thinking of using the 2 outputs of my DAC last night, and made this diagram...
Horizontal = One integrated amp for bass and one for treble...
Each amp has a volume control of its own
I think I would hear something horribly wrong way before I blew the tweeters... but good...
.. in which case I would hear that there's way to much power to the tweeters, right ?
Would I damage my speakers if..... I were horizontal bi-amping and accidentally ran a lot more current into the bass than into the treble (or vice-versa) ?
Speakers are DALI Opticon 6 (using...
I'm not anywhere near DIY in nature, unfortunately... But I like what you say; "each drive unit its own amplifier" is my goal too.. "dedicated psu".. couldn't agree more..
If I get rich overnight,...
Yes, Yes, this is what I want to do... at the moment I use an Arcam A90 for my treble and a matching power amp P90 for my bass. These are a little dated now, though still sounding good..
So it is...
My thoughts exactly, so far ! Thanks
That's what I will end up with one day... .100% for sure
Thanks for the discussion so far...
Zero hour, or the moment of truth is about to happen
I will pick up my 2nd Arcam A39 on Monday, and start the process ; 1 amp for treble the other for bass
Does...
Y splitters does not feel very hi-fi to me ; am I wrong ?
